WHO: La Danserie, a contemporary ballet company under the artistic direction of
Patrick Frantz, former premier danseur of the Paris Opera Ballet.
WHAT: La Danserie kicks off its second decade in Los Angeles with Momentum, showcasing new works by Judy Pisarro-Grant and Tatiana A’Virmond, and featuring a multimedia work by special guest artist Rei Aoo.

La Danserie, the chamber-sized contemporary ballet company dubbed “the exhilarating collective” by the Los Angeles Times, kicks off its second decade with Momentum at the Plaza del Sol Performance Hall, California State University Northridge. On the program, Pisarro-Grant’s depth of field sets a sculptural duet against a dream-like, painted landscape, while her Fun and Games offers a lighthearted appreciation of Mozart’s 31st Symphony. A’Virmond mixes a dash of Tango into her Adios Nonino, set to music by Piazolla, and Rei Aoo’s video-dance solo, Mirror uses film and live dance to look inside the dancer’s mirror. The evening is completed by works set to music by Villa Lobos and Shostakovich, continuing the tradition of La Danserie’s “typically diverse and stimulating” (Lewis Segal, LA Times) programming.
During the first decade of its existence La Danserie has performed throughout Los Angeles in a variety of venues including Highways Performance Space, the Los Angeles Theater Center, the Madrid Theater, California State University Northridge Performing Arts Center, Moorpark College and the Unknown Theater. La Danserie is a non-profit company with a highly active school outreach program conducted in partnership with the Los Angeles Unified School District. La Danserie receives support from the Los Angeles Arts County Commission; the Boeing Employees Community Fund; Hitachi, ltd.; United Technologies Corporation; and the Target Corporation
