L.A. Contemporary Dance Company (LACDC) presents

Fall 2009 Performance Schedule:

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, September 23, 2009 –


The Palm Springs Art Museum and the Coachella Repertory Theatre present "Reflections of Lino", a performance inspired by the life and work of glass artist, Lino Tagliapietra. Featuring the L.A. Contemporary Dance Company, with choreography by Kate Hutter and Erik Speth. Performances by Marcelo De Sa Martins, Melissa Schade, Drea Sobke and Erik Speth, with music by Nathan Wang and text by Jonathan Dorf. Performances will be Sunday, October 11 and Saturday, November 14 at 2pm in the Annenberg Theater at the Palm Springs Art Museum and are FREE to the public. The L.A. Contemporary Dance Company would also like to announce their winter show “Fight or Flight” with performances December 4-6 and 11-13. The production will include the world premiere of works by Scott Hislop, Adam Parson, and LACDC Artistic Director, Kate Hutter. The venue is TBA. Tickets go on sale beginning November 1st at www.brownpapertickets.com. $20 general admission; $25 reserved seating. In preparation for the show, LACDC will also be hosting their bi-annual “Open Bar / Open Rehearsal” event where the public will have the opportunity to sit in on rehearsals and learn about the creative process while sipping cocktails and enjoying the lounge atmosphere of LACDC’s hip downtown rehearsal space. “Open Bar / Open Rehearsal” will take place Saturday, November 7 from 7 – 10pm at the Brockus Project Studios located at 618B Moulton Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90031. Admission is a suggested donation of $15.



Celebrate the holidays with the L.A. Contemporary Dance Company with their performance in the 50th annual Los Angeles County Holiday Celebration choreographed by LACDC company member, Jamila Glass. The Holiday Celebration, featuring community and professional choirs, music ensembles, folk and traditional artists, and dance companies, will take place on Thursday, December 24, 2009 at the Music Center’s Dorothy Chandler Pavilion from 3-6pm. Following the performance KCET will air the program throughout Southern and Central California from 7-10pm. For more information visit www.lacountyarts.org/holiday. This event is FREE to the public.

The L.A. Contemporary Dance Company (LACDC) is a repertory dance company based in downtown Los Angeles that performs a diverse repertoire of modern, ballet, and jazz influenced works representative of L.A.’s vibrant culture. Kate Hutter (choreographer, co-director) is Artistic Director and co-founder of the L.A. Contemporary Dance Company (LACDC), a non-profit organization that produces innovative dance performances and workshops for Los Angeles’ communities. Kate holds a BFA in Theatrical Design from the University of Southern California and a MFA in Choreography from Purchase College, SUNY. Kate received an L.A. Weekly Award for “Best Production” for her work on Marat / Sade in 2006 and two Lester Horton award nominations for “Best small ensemble” in 2006 and 2007 for her work with LACDC.



Scott Hislop (Choreographer) recently appeared in the film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button with Cate Blanchett and Brad Pitt. Scott has appeared in over 14 feature films including Charlie’s Angels, She’s All That, Titanic, Jackass II, and as Tobey Maquire’s dance-double in Spiderman III. He can be seen in commercials for Sony Plasma, Wendy’s, and Cadillac Escalade. Among his television credits are shows such as “Bette,” “Jack & Jill,” and “Tony Bennett, An American Legend,” directed by Rob Marshall. In addition to his performance and teaching careers, Scott has periodically been a part of the choreography team setting pieces for “So You Think You Can Dance.”



Adam Parson (Choreographer) performed worldwide as a Power Ranger. His television, commercial and video credits include “3rd Rock from the Sun,” Pepsi, Prince, Monica, and Shell Oil. Adam also performed as a principal dancer in the ballet Rodeo presented to President Clinton at the White House. He is the founder and artistic director of Commonality Dance Company that has toured the United States, Mexico, South Korea, and Europe. Adam teaches master classes around the world and for companies and schools in Australia, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, South Korea and Switzerland. His recent projects include choreography for two feature films and the show ASIA, filmed live for DVD.
