Diavolo DECEMBER 12th 2009 Auditions

Diavolo, one of Los Angeles's most prominent modern dance companies, is currently seeking male and female dancers to join the company for the 10-11 season. National and International Touring dates are scheduled.

Diavolo Dance Theatre Auditions

Requirements:
You must be 16 or older, with a strong background in modern dance, and some experience in either gymnastics, acrobatics, aerial arts, martial arts, and the like. Participants are generally professionals, or dancers on a dance track at the college, or performing arts high school level, with a desire to focus on dance as a career. This is not a beginner’s intensive, but instead should be considered a high level - intermediate to advanced - intensive for dancers wishing to expand their skill level in combining dance with other ultra athletic movement. Participants should not be afraid of heights. An explanation of the components of the intensive follows:

Diavolo Technique:
This rigorous technique class is modern based, and combines elements of contact improvisation, gymnastics, partnering and lifting. At its foundation will be the Diavolo core principles of trust, teamwork and individual expression.

Diavolo Skills/Dance Conditioning Diavolo Skills will teach participants specific principles and technique unique to Diavolo - flying and falling exercises, principles of safe catching, and weight bearing counter-balance exercises, and further exploration of partnering.

Dance Conditioning addresses: 1) Body Toning, 2) Injury Prevention, 3) Partner Stretching and 4) Relaxation Exercises.

Diavolo Repertory
In rep class, students will deal directly with one of Diavolo’s signature architectural set pieces, while learing Diavolo rep for that structure. Working with the set piece is a one of a kind experience that will challenge the student’s creative and physical abilities.
