How to Build a Dance Resume.
|
|
Dear Dancehelp,
I am currently in a company and I have been there for 5 years straight out of high school. Because I grew up training with this company I have never had to make a dance resume or portfolio. I have searched all over the web for help and was hoping that you could help me out.
Lost in paper work,
Andrea
Hello Andrea,
The first thing you need to do is to write down everything you've done in the dance world that's notable. List every company and school you danced with, list every grand performance you've been a part of and the roles you've had especially if they involved solo or duet work. You need to concentrate on your accomplishments. As soon as you have everything listed it's simple to find a resume format to piece it all in to. If you have a computer you need to go into your Word program and type 'resume' under the 'office assistant' help icon. This will bring up a list of different resumes to choose from and you simply just fill in the blanks from education and employment, to accomplishments and achievements. You may want to make up a cover letter as well which serves as an informal introduction of yourself and your professional desires. Please read our article Building a Dance Resume for more details!
Thanks and happy dancing!
