Last Chance For Dance?
|
|
Dear Dancehelp,
I am ballet trained but left to join our high school dance team. We are lucky to afford choreography and are a winning hiphop team. I am missing the technical training and am afraid my chances for college dance are gone because I made this decision. I excel in modern and jazz although I love ballet and have had good training in the past. I build muscle easily and am a size 2/4 which is to my advantage. I am still doubtful that ballet can still be in my future. I am a junior right now and am looking at colleges. What do you recommend for a summer intensive and or college?
Sincerely, Abbi

Hello Abbi,
The good news is that muscle has memory! If you are classically trained in the ballet technique and have not stopped dancing since (regardless of the style), then you should still seek out your passion and go for the dance college of your choice. A summer intensive is a great way to snap back into it and get aquainted with ballet again. We have compiled a list of summer dance intensives so you can find instruction in your area. As for a college, check into your local universities and research their dance programs, we are working on a college dance guide so stay tuned!
Thanks and good luck!
